Can you help my child if he or she isn’t on the autism spectrum?Yes, we work with a variety of clients facing a range of obstacles. From trouble at home or school to “failure to launch” after college, we specialize in working with families with children facing behavioral, emotional, and/or developmental challenges. Our goal is to help give you and your child the tools to achieve independence. We focus on NEEDS, not labels. ©

Our child is wonderful, but we know in our hearts that he or she will have trouble transitioning into adulthood. All the professionals say they will outgrow this, or that there is nothing “wrong” with them. We are worried and don’t know where to turn, can you help guide us?"Yes! We lovingly call these children E-Cubed (E to the third power), based off the phrase “Twice Exceptional.” For E-Cubed children, every diagnosis seems to simultaneously fit and not fit. E-Cubed children are smart, loving, and adorable. But when life becomes challenging, the systems unravel, leaving a path of despair and concern. When things go well, they are great, but in a moment, it can turn into chaos. We know these children the best because they often fall through the cracks in traditional support systems. Because no diagnosis properly “fits” them, they aren’t given the attention they need. So when you find yourself saying you “can’t quite put your finger” on your child’s challenges, we have experience with these situations. We can help!

Where is your office? We come to you! We routinely provide on-site skills training and coaching for the family in the home, in the school, or other community settings. We also can provide remote coaching using a virtual communication platform. Wherever will be the most effective and the most comfortable for your family, we can be there. Beyond convenience, we believe in real-time advisement and feedback. Rather than reflecting on a specific behavior away from the environment at a later date, we can be there with you in the moment. We want our interventions to translate into real-life, actionable plans to maximize the strengths and provide solutions and supports for challenges.
-
Do you work with schools and/or work sites?Yes, we have extensive experience in both areas.
-
How long will the process take? Each client is unique. We find the duration of each engagement varies widely. We can give you a better idea following our initial meeting.

What is my involvement as a parent/caregiver?Our goal is independence for the individual, and that includes the parent/caregiver! The full involvement of the parents/caregiver is essential to participation in our presented action plan. Our approach is one of cooperative alliance, which means the caregiver is also supported in the achievement of independence. Just as we give your child the tools of autonomy, we will help provide the parents/caregiver with the tools to best support them (and support themselves) going forward. Whatever your level of involvement is now, it will likely be greatly reduced as we progress and shift autonomy to your child.
